Is this Hypnosis?
No, it is not hypnosis. The client does not lose consciousness. The goal of biofeedback is to increase the client’s awareness and control over their bodily functions and gain the ability to regulate them in times of stress. This is also not relaxation training, however, one of the side effects is increasing your ability to feel relaxed. You will learn how to slow down and synchronize your breathing rate and heart rate.
What else do I need to know?
Biofeedback is often a fun challenge for clients. Most people respond well to treatments. Many notice improvement in their symptoms after five to six sessions. Parents are welcome to sit in the session and may be able to help reinforce the training at home.
