Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning Young Adults

Adolescence includes some of the most difficult and emotional years of a person’s life. Teens and young adults who are members of a sexual minority are at higher risk for low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety, especially when they lack an adequate support system. Coming out to straight parents, friends, and family members is difficult for many young people. We offer an open and supportive space to explore these issues in both individual and family counseling.

Psychological Evaluations for Teens & Young Adults

Psychotic disorders like Schizophrenia typically emerge during the late teens and early twenties in males, and slightly later in females. The longer serious psychiatric disorders are left untreated, the more severe the symptoms become, and the more time it takes for the individual to recover. We strongly recommend that you bring your teen or young adult in for a comprehensive psychological evaluation if their psychiatric symptoms are preventing them from living a normal life and represent a significant change in their daily functioning. Dr. Thrash is experienced in assessing hard to diagnose adolescents and young adults. She has completed hundreds of psychological evaluations over the course of her career. Securing an accurate psychiatric diagnosis is the first step toward a healthier life and a brighter future for your loved one.
